About the role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Educator to provide clinical leadership and education across all Danila Dilba Health Service clinics. In this role, you will support Registered Nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care through contemporary, evidence-based practice.
You will play a key role in building clinical capability by developing scopes of practice, supporting clinicians' onboarding and orientation, providing clinical supervision, and delivering engaging education and training.
What you'll be doing
* Develop a scope of practice document for DDHS Registered Nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners in partnership with the Student Support Coordinator.
* Identify and prioritise learning and training needs for existing RN's and AHP's based on skill gap's analysis and in line with continuous quality improvement.
* Develop and implement appropriate tools (staff needs analysis, performance development plans, clinical indicators) to identify the educational needs of RNs and AHPs.
* Work with the Learning and Development Officer to enhance onboarding and orientation including development of an appropriate induction package.
* Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to existing and new staff as required.
* Participates and lead in-service education and training as required.
* Undertakes clinical audits to monitor clinical performance and provides synopsis reports, gap analysis and action plans to relevant leadership meetings.
* Undertake other duties as requested by the Manager/Team Leader that are within the scope and skill consistent with the position.
What we're looking for
* Qualified and Registered as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
* Previous experience acting as a preceptor and/or in nursing education or a similar role.
* Well-developed knowledge of, and contemporary experience in, working with clients with chronic health conditions and relevant management strategies.
* Knowledge of the social determinants of health (environment, economic and social inequalities) that have a profound impact on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Demonstrated ability to use culturally sensitive ways to ensure improved client access to DDHS and/or other health services.
* Proven teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of people and service providers.
* High level of personal resilience and flexibility with the ability to deal with challenging situations.
* Demonstrated computer skills, especially in the use of client information systems or similar.
