Join to apply for the Trainee Asset Data Management Officer role at City of Wagga Wagga
Are you someone who loves making sense of data, spotting patterns, and getting things organised? Start your career in a role where your attention to detail will shape the way Council manages extensive financial resources in public assets. As our next Trainee Asset Data Management Officer, you'll be a key part of a positive, future-focused team working to ensure our asset information is accurate, reliable, and responsive. This is a two-year full-time traineeship that combines paid work and study—leading to a Certificate IV in Local Government.
What you'll gain:
* Real experience supporting asset accounting and management while learning to work with industry-standard software, systems, and data.
* Contribute to improving how Council captures and uses asset data—from roads and footpaths to pipes and parks.
* Learn to use spatial mapping tools and other data systems to support infrastructure and planning decisions.
* Work within a friendly finance team that will guide you throughout your traineeship.
What's in it for you:
* A nationally recognised Certificate IV in Local Government, fully supported by Council.
* Above award rates with a starting salary of $1,667.66 per fortnight plus superannuation (for applicants 18 years or older), with rates varying based on age and experience.
* 3 hours of paid study time weekly, plus practical on-the-job learning.
* Exposure to systems and software valued across government and industry sectors.
* A stepping stone for a future career in asset management, finance, GIS, or data analytics.
What we're looking for:
* Someone with strong attention to detail who enjoys working through problems methodically.
* A self-starter capable of working independently and collaboratively.
* Curious, analytical, and eager to learn and ask questions.
* Comfortable using Microsoft Office and willing to learn new software tools.
A day in the life:
* Reading and interpreting asset data documents from developers, contractors, and internal teams.
* Updating databases and mapping systems with new asset information.
* Collaborating across Council to track and clean data.
* Supporting asset valuations and building forward works programs.
