About the role
Good Shepherd Catholic School, Rasmussen, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Groundsperson to start as soon as possible in 2025. This is a permanent, part-time position, completing 30 hours per week across five days.
The Groundsperson, under the direction of the Principal, contributes to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school by providing high-quality maintenance and upkeep of the school grounds. The role requires quick assessment of repairs to ensure maximum safety at all times. The Groundsperson will work with limited supervision under the Principal's guidance.
Key Accountabilities
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Mowing, whipper snipping, and fertilising lawns
* Repairing and maintaining irrigation systems
* Weeding, planting, fertilising, and maintaining gardens
* Maintaining and cleaning grounds and equipment
* Maintaining security lighting
* Assisting with general building maintenance, painting, etc., as required
* Identifying and reporting defects and hazards promptly
* Some deliveries to and from the school, as needed
Carry out minor repairs to school property and equipment, including:
* Replacing tap washers and other general repairs
* Repairing leaking toilets, windows, desks, chairs, and minor carpentry and painting work
* Assisting with marking playing fields
* Assisting with setting up and dismantling tents and equipment for events
The position requires working within Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and performing other tasks as reasonably directed to support the school's operations.
Mandatory Criteria
* Current Working with Children Suitability Card; a paid Blue Card is required before commencement, as per the No Card, No Start policy by the Queensland Government
* Completion of Workplace Health and Safety Training
* Current Driver’s Licence
* Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role safely
This position is subject to a pre-employment medical assessment. Some roles may require immunisation against certain preventable diseases to minimise transmission risks.
