Description
Process Assistants are pivotal in ensuring smooth daily operations – supervising shifts, allocating labour, assigning job duties, and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. This role places a strong emphasis on compliance with the Regulated Air Cargo Agent (RACA) security program, including the processing and security clearance of Amazon air cargo, compliance oversight, and supervision of operational performance.
This is a full‐time role combining production work and managerial duties. The Aviation Security (AvSec) program runs an overnight operation between 9:00 PM and 12:00 PM (midday), with coverage and flexibility required across these hours. Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements, and weekend work may be required.
Key job responsibilities
* Support daily management of department duties, including allocating labour, leading meetings, and assigning job duties
* Monitor compliance with AvSec RACA program requirements
* Apply industry and Amazon best practices for the secure handling and transportation of air cargo
* Track and report ATS/labour hours
* Assist on the floor as an associate resource – train associates and verify SOP compliance
* Ensure successful area performance through tracking, reporting, and feedback on associate productivity, quality, safety, and security
* Report and manage risks and incidents; refer all job injuries immediately to the Aviation Security Manager
* Identify and address safety hazards within the work area; participate in safety initiatives and coach associates to work safely at all times
* Provide policy follow‐up and attendance tracking (duties do not extend to discipline)
* Assist in keeping the work area clean and organised
* Participate in Operational Excellence initiatives
Basic Qualifications
* Experience supervising teams
* Experience in a combination of the following domains: corporate security management, transportation/supply chain operations or aviation security
* Work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
* Fulfillment of Government background checks to qualify for an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card)
* Comfortable lifting up to 16 kg, standing/walking for up to 10‐12 hours, and frequently pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching (with or without reasonable accommodation)
* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to coach, train, and assist team members
* Strong problem‐solving skills and the ability to adapt to unplanned situations
* Excellent time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience directly managing others
* Previous experience as a Process Assistant, including any step‐up periods
* Experience working within a similar field (distribution, warehousing, or aviation security)
* Experience with x‐ray screening technology, physical security control, and surveillance systems
* Knowledge of Dangerous Goods transportation requirements
* Experience with performance metrics and lean process improvement
* Experience with oversight or implementation of quality assurance programs
