The initial focus will be to lead strategic commercial analysis, support category strategy development, manage supplier engagement, and help deliver a major HME sourcing/commercial uplift program.
The ideal candidate will ideally have previously managed HME categories (trucks, loaders, excavators, drills, ancillary equipment) within a tier-one mining organisation. You will bring strong commercial acumen, supplier understanding (OEMs and rebuilders), and the ability to independently drive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, Lead and support the delivery of HME category strategies, sourcing initiatives, and commercial optimisation projects.
Analyse complex commercial, operational, and cost data to develop insights, models, and recommendations.
Manage relationships with key OEMs and service partners (e.g., CAT/Komatsu)
Develop fact packs, should-cost models, negotiation frameworks, and market intelligence documents.
Prepare and deliver senior-level presentations, reports, and commercial options papers.
Support tendering activities: RFI/RFP development, evaluation, negotiations, business case preparation.
Work with Project Lead ensure project delivery, client alignment, and quality assurance.
Operate autonomously and deliver work packages with minimal supervision.
Engage with cross-functional teams including maintenance, operations, engineering, contracts, and supply.
Contribute to supplier performance assessments and commercial risk reviews.
Support transition, mobilisation, and implementation of commercial outcomes (if applicable).
Required Experience & Skills
5-15+ years' experience in procurement, commercial, contracts, or category management roles.
Demonstrated experience running the HME category or major sub-categories in a tier-one/two mining company.
Strong understanding of OEM commercial models, pricing structures, rebuild vs new buy economics, and TCO.
Proven ability to dissect complex, ambiguous data sets and turn them into actionable insights.
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; ability to build models, dashboards, and recommendations.
Strong negotiation and commercial evaluation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication, including stakeholder engagement across all levels.
Self-starter, highly autonomous, proactive, and comfortable delivering under time pressure.
High attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving mindset.
Desirable (Nice to Have)
Knowledge of component rebuild strategies, long-term agreements, supply-chain optimisation, or CAPEX procurement.
Exposure to low-cost country sourcing (India, Thailand, China) for HME or related categories.
Ability to build commercial models, should-cost frameworks, and supplier benchmarking tools.
