The opportunity: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Painter to deliver high-quality painting and surface preparation services within child care environments. This role plays a critical part in supporting the aesthetic, hygienic, and operational standards of early learning centres while ensuring zero disruption to daily operations and maintaining child safety at all times. All work is carried out strictly outside of operational hours and within clearly defined sections, ensuring each area is completed, cleaned, and made hazard-free before children and staff return the next business day. What you'll do: Promote and follow workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures Prepare surfaces including walls, ceilings, joinery, and timber structures through sanding, priming, filling, or caulking Apply paint and coatings using brushes, rollers, and sprayers in accordance with Australian standards. Work within defined sections to minimise disruption to the broader facility Complete each section before operational hours resume, ensuring surfaces are dry, aired, and hazard-free Stage works to maintain a clean, ventilated, and safe environment before moving to the next section Use signage and barricades as required to prevent premature access Remove all tools, ladders, materials, and waste at the end of each shift Identify and report any incidents, hazards, or safety concerns promptly Adhere to child safety and safeguarding protocols at all times You'll have: Familiarity with low-emission and allergy-friendly paint systems Current First Aid Certificate Previous experience in child care, education, or healthcare settings. Capable of working independently and solving problems on site Reliable, punctual, and proactive communicator Commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and respect for the child care environment Professional, efficient, and courteous in all interactions Strong time management with the ability to meet tight deadlines Positive, team-oriented attitude and collaborative spirit Best practices including safe chemical handling, manual handling, and proper ventilation Understanding of sectional work strategies for safe and efficient staging, containment, and reactivation of spaces. Compliance with child protection protocols, including secure clean-up and access control. Knowledge of low-VOC and non-toxic paint systems suitable for child care environments The working environment: Work conducted primarily after hours, from 6:30pm onwards. There may be are requirements for work across weekends, and public holidays. Physically demanding work including lifting, climbing, kneeling, and extended periods of standing Must work quietly and respectfully in environments that prioritise child safety, hygiene, and confidentiality.
