Teacher of Instrumental Brass and Classroom Music (Years 5-7) Fixed-term Appointment (Term 3, 2026) Full-time (part-time considered by negotiation) Commencing Term 3, 2026
The Geelong College is seeking to employ a Teacher of Instrumental Brass and Classroom Music (Years 5 – 7), who will work collaboratively within a team of professional educators to provide a dynamic, creative and engaging learning environment for students, and contribute to the pastoral care and co-curricular programs of the College.
This is a fixed-term position for Term 3, 2026, covering a period of staff leave. The role is advertised as full-time; however, part-time arrangements will also be considered by negotiation.
The position will primarily involve teaching Brass instrumental classes within our Year 5 and Year 7 Band programs, as well as working with co-curricular ensembles. The role also includes teaching core classroom music in Years 6 and 7 for approximately 5 hours per week.
Depending on the skills and availability of the applicants, the role may be split into two part-time positions (approximately 0.25 classroom music and 0.75 brass).
Qualifications and Experience
* Demonstrated ability to teach classroom music to students (Years 5 to 7)
* Brass Specialist, with experience teaching trumpet and working within a concert band program (preferred)
* Evidence of Right to Work in Australia
* Relevant educational qualification (tertiary music degree or diploma) and/or experience in a similar role as a professional musician
* Current Victorian Institute of Teachers (VIT) registration
* Current Certifications in:
o First Aid (HLTAID011)
o CPR (HTLAID009)
o Asthma Management
* Completion of either:
o The College's anaphylaxis training, or
o Accredited course: 22578VIC - Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
