Vehicle Body Builder / Fibreglasser
Wage Range: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour
Short Description
We are seeking a versatile and skilled Vehicle Body Builder / Fibreglasser responsible for crafting, repairing, and finishing vehicle bodies and fibreglass panels on trailers. This role requires a blend of high-quality workmanship in fibreglass repair and finishing alongside strong welding and fabrication skills to meet design and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Body Building & Fabrication: Fit truck, trailer, and transport bodies to specifications while fabricating and welding steel and aluminium components.
* Fibreglass Repair: Identify damage and perform high-quality repairs, including laminating, cutting, and bonding.
* Surface Finishing: Apply and repair gel coats, including colour matching and sanding, to restore original appearance and structural integrity.
* Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, job cards, and repair instructions to ensure all work meets OEM standards.
* Safety & Support: Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area while assisting other trades to support workshop productivity.
Skills and Experience
* Qualifications: Trade qualification in Vehicle Body Building or equivalent experience in fibreglass repair, finishing, or panel manufacturing.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in welding, cutting, and fabrication combined with a strong mechanical aptitude.
* Specialist Knowledge: Proven experience in gel coat repairs, replacing extrusions, and handling chemicals safely.
