THE ORGANISATION
The Yinhawangka Aboriginal Corporation (ICN 7837) (YAC) is the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) for the Yinhawangka People. YAC manages the native title rights and interests of the Yinhawangka People whose native title determination is in the central Pilbara region of Western Australia with significant historical and current mining activities. YAC's mission is to support the cultural, social, and economic wellbeing of the Yinhawangka People while ensuring the protection of Yinhawangka land and heritage.
THE ROLE
This newly created position will report to the CEO and provide strategic and operational leadership of YAC's corporate functions, including finance, people and capability, safety and procurement. The role requires candid, solutions-focused advice to the CEO and Board on financial performance, risk exposure, compliance obligations, and long term sustainability, and leading the team with integrity, accountability and professionalism.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should be a CA or CPA qualified professional with significant senior financial leadership experience, ideally with experience in a First Nations organisation or cross-cultural environment. A strong understanding of governance, audit, compliance and risk management frameworks, experience overseeing HR and procurement, commercial judgement, analytical capability and exposure to grant funding or trust‐structured revenue streams are essential or desirable respectively.
IN RETURN
A competitive base salary of circa $210,000 to $240,000, depending on experience, plus superannuation, is available on a permanent contract. The role will be predominantly Perth-based with regular travel across the State.
