About us
Mookai Rosie Bi‐Bayan, founded in the 1980s by Rose Richards ('Aunty Rosie'), is a leading health service supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children and families from Cape York, the NPA and the Torres Strait while they are in Cairns for medical treatment. Our Health Accommodation Centre provides a safe, welcoming space for up to 24 women and 12 children, offering culturally supportive accommodation during their stay. In addition to this core service, MRBB delivers a comprehensive maternal health program that provides culturally safe antenatal and perinatal care, continuity of midwifery support and access to Cultural Birth Workers to ensure women are well supported throughout pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period.
About the role
As Maternal Team Lead, you will deliver advanced, autonomous and culturally safe antenatal and perinatal care to clients accessing our Maternal Hub. You'll work closely with our midwives, health workers, clinicians and partner services to coordinate holistic clinical and social support, ensuring every woman receives the care she needs throughout her pregnancy and early parenting journey.
In this pivotal position, you will also supervise, mentor and guide our Cultural Birth Workers, building workforce capability and strengthening our unique, culturally grounded model of care. If you're passionate about woman‐centred practice, committed to cultural safety, and excited by the opportunity to contribute to a high‐performing, community‐led maternal health service - this is your chance to lead, grow and make a meaningful difference.
