**About the role**
Council is looking for a motivated and experienced Resource Recovery Officer to manage the delivery of projects, programs and reporting identified within Council's waste strategy and community strategic plan.
In this role you will play an integral role in encouraging the evolution of an organisational culture that supports and adopts a sustainable approach to operational management and service delivery and work on programs identified in our Resource Recovery and Waste Strategy.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and implement resource recovery initiatives, such as the recycling contamination program in apartment buildings and other projects to support Council's waste contracts
- Develop and manage behaviour change projects and community education programs aimed at waste avoidance, recycling improvement, and fostering resource recovery and the circular economy
- Deliver engagement initiatives to meet Council's resource recovery targets, including organising events, workshops and supporting existing and new community networks
- Support the team in responding to customer enquiries related to waste and report on waste and recycling data
- Promote resource recovery and sustainability within the organisation to help Council meet its ambitious environmental targets
**About the person**
- Tertiary qualification in an environmental, science or communications field or demonstrated technical skills and knowledge gained through 2 years minimum experience.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating environmental projects or programs.
- Skills and experience in delivering events, workshops or other community engagement activities to promote awareness and support behaviour change projects.
- High standard of written and verbal communication skills, including experience with report writing.
- Proven customer service experience with strong interpersonal skills liaising with the public, including culturally and linguistic diverse (CALD) people.
- Current Driver's licence 'Class C'
