Description
Reporting to the Team Leader Planning, the Planning Officer is responsible for:
* Undertaking the assessment and processing of development applications; ensuring that Council's statutory obligations under relevant legislation(s) are met.
* Providing pre-lodgement development advice to prospective applicants.
* Responding to general planning and development enquiries from the community.
* Carrying out inspections of existing and proposed development sites.
* Preparing and presenting reports, recommendations and advice on development proposals to the Council Assessment Panel.
* Providing assistance to the Team Leader Planning in the coordination and provision of planning services for Council.
Planning Officer - Position Description
About you
The successful candidate will have:
* Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent qualification.
* Demonstrated experience in a similar role with the assessment of development applications relating to issues such as infill development, trees, steep topography and interface with non-residential development.
* Previous work experience as an urban planner or planning assessment officer in asimilar organisation or work environment.
* Experience with the Planning Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, Planning and Design Code, and other legislation related to development assessment.
* Competency to read and interpret drawings and detail relating to development applications.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of development assessment and site inspections.
* General level of knowledge of the legal system and law as it applies to planning legislation, including the Local Government Act.
* South Australian Class C Driver's Licence.
* Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment and National Criminal History Check.

Salary range is between $91,908 and $104,146 per annum + superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience and qualifications.
