Nurse Unit Manager Position Overview

The Nurse Unit Manager is a key leadership role within the Maternity Department, responsible for overseeing the coordination of patient-centered clinical practice and the provision of resources. This position requires strong leadership, management, and organisational skills, as well as comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice.

This position involves facilitating, leading, directing, overseeing, and coordinating collaborative teams to deliver evidence-informed patient-centered care. It also involves ongoing professional development of self and others, creating an environment that encourages lifelong learning, mentoring, and support.

The ideal candidate will possess high-level leadership, management, and organisational skills, including comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice. They will be able to work effectively under pressure in a rapidly changing environment and have advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.


Job Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the Maternity Department team
* Coordinate patient-centered clinical practice
* Provide operational leadership to administration, allied health, and operational staff
* Facilitate quality and cost-effective nursing services
* Maintain contemporary standards and best practice within the Maternity Department


Required Skills and Qualifications

* Demonstrated high-level leadership, management, and organisational skills
* Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice
* Possession of a nursing qualification from a registered tertiary institution or completion of an approved hospital training program
* Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate
* Context-specific postgraduate qualification in nursing (desirable)

The successful candidate will receive a salary between $132,562 - $143,924 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%), and annual leave loading (17.5%).
