Job Description
We now have a great opportunity at our Cairns Terminal, for an Operator to join our established team. Full time and casual positions are available.
We are seeking locally based applications for this opportunity.
Reporting to the site coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day shipping, bunkering and terminal operations. You will also complete regular maintenance inspections, perform quality checks, sampling and testing.
The site operates Monday to Friday and includes an on-call roster for night/weekend relief (as required for shipping duties). Weekend work will be required, day/night/all weather and including public holidays.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead safe operations by following all Health & Safety critical processes and role modelling our Beyond Goal Zero culture.
* Perform routine inspections and surveillance of the terminal, including gantry equipment, tanks, bunds, pipelines, pumps, and fire systems.
* Operate and monitor terminal process equipment, such as tanks, pipelines, pumps, truck loading systems, instrumentation, and PLC control systems.
* Supervise tanker drivers during gantry loading, including inductions, competency assessments, and vehicle inspections.
* Manage fuel movements, including ship receipts into the terminal and bunkering operations via pipeline or truck.
* Conduct fuel quality control testing and ensure product integrity at all times.
* Support maintenance activities by reviewing contractor JHAs, issuing safe work permits, and raising maintenance or inspection requests as required.
* Report and investigate incidents, identifying corrective and preventive actions.
* Maintain accurate records such as stock levels and other daily administrative tasks.
* Collaborate with the team to plan weekly activities, ensuring safe and efficient work execution.
* Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response drills to maintain operational readiness.
On the job training will gradually build your skills and develop your competence over time.
