Our esteemed client, Bantu Recruitment Agency, is currently seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter for a full-time position. The company is an African-Australian-owned recruitment firm with strong links to Indigenous labour hire. In this role, the Heavy Diesel Fitter will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heavy diesel equipment and machinery, diagnosing faults in engines and mechanical systems, and carrying out the assembly and disassembly of components to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The annual salary for this position is $80,000 to $150,000. Responsibilities include:
* Inspecting heavy diesel machinery and equipment to identify wear, damage, or faults.
* Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines and associated systems using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
* Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, and other components for repair or replacement.
* Repairing or replacing worn, defective, or damaged parts, including pistons, bearings, valves, and gaskets.
* Reassembling engines and mechanical components, ensuring correct alignment and functionality.
* Performing routine servicing, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
* Testing and adjusting repaired systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with specifications.
* Carrying out preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime and extend service life.
* Interpreting technical drawings, service manuals, and specifications to guide repair and maintenance work.
* Operating specialised tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently.
* Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
* Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications:
* Should be able to work independently.
* Must have completed four (4) years of apprenticeship training and three (3) years post-apprenticeship.
* Should hold a relevant Australian Trade Certificate.
