About the role
Are you passionate about supporting individuals with mental health and disability needs? MiChoice Disability Supports' is seeking caring and compassionate Mental Health & Disability Support Care Person to join our team. In this role, you'll play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by providing personalised care and assistance. Some of the NDIS participants you will be supporting have complexed needs with behaviours requiring Positive Behaviour Management strategies. You will need to be able to support in these environments.
What you'll be doing
* Provide direct care and support to clients with mental health and disability needs, assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and social engagement
* Develop and implement personalised care plans to address the unique needs and goals of each client
* Engage clients in recreational and therapeutic activities to promote their wellbeing and independence
* Advocate for clients and liaise with family members, healthcare professionals, and other support services to ensure coordinated and holistic care
* Maintain detailed records and documentation to track client progress and comply with regulatory requirements
* Contribute to a positive and inclusive team setting, providing support and mentorship to colleagues as needed
What we're looking for
* Previous experience in providing care and support to individuals with mental health or disability needs advantageous, but not a requirement as in-house training will be provided.
* Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and their families
* Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life for those you support
* Relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent advantageous. If not, you will need to acquire this during your employment.
* Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and possess a valid driver's licence
