This charism is perpetuated throughout our different entities and expressions which extend both locally, nationally and overseas.Position’s Purpose:This position has a broad range of responsibilities assisting and supporting the Wembley Brothers Community. Tasks may include but not limited to cooking, laundry and cleaning, that meets the standards set by the community and are in compliance of Occupational Health and safety whilst undertaken the duties required.Scope of the Position:The Housekeeper works with the team at Wembley Community, in a cordial manner, ensuring that the premises and Brothers are provided for with meals and that the premises are maintained, tidy and that standards of cleanliness are upheld to provide an environment conducive to both the residence and visitors.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:Mon & Wed12.00pm to 7.00pmWash dishes from breakSet the table for lunch, wipe over place mats and chairs as requiredPrepare and serve a light lunch for Brothers present for 12.30 pmEmpty the dishwasher and clean kitchenAfter lunch set the table for the evening meal.If needed, bake a cake or muffins for next day’s morning tea.Prepare the main meal for the full Community and serve at 5.45 pm. Meals need to be nutritionally appropriate for aging men. A dietician will advise re menu and review.Note on a pad near the phone, food items/groceries needing purchase, including items stored in laundry cupboards.Once per week compile a list of groceries, order for delivery at a convenient time when staff will be present to receive them. A laptop will be provided for this purpose.Maintain the kitchen, kitchen appliances, dining room, adjacent morning-tearoom and food storage areas as clean and hygienic.Refill water and juice jugs after each meal and place in dining-room refrigerator.Fill milk jugs in dining room and common room refrigerators.Replace tea-towels daily. Soiled items to the laundry.As needed bake a cake for morning tea. Maintain a supply of biscuits.Food waste suitable for composting is placed in an ice-cream plastic for transfer to Bokashi-One box. Other organic waste is placed in FOGO bin. Recycle appropriately.Change bed linen and towels for Brothers as needed (some do this themselves)Bag linen for transport to Brightwater Linen via McAuley Centre, each Monday. New linen is received each Friday.Attend to laundry as needed: washing and ironing. This may be heaviest on Mondays. Sometimes ironing may be left for the next day.Ensure supplies of soap, cleaning materials and equipment, toilet tissue, personal toiletries stored in the laundry are maintained.CleaningRemove and bin rubbish from all rooms.Check and light-clean bedrooms and bathrooms, mindful that a separate deep-clean of the whole house is done each fortnight on Saturdays.Clean and mop staff bathroom adjacent to the kitchen. Mop the kitchen and dining room floors after dinner.Feed and water the caged birds.Vacuum corridors/verandahs as needed from wind-blown leaves, bird feathers, etc.Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation. Policies and Procedures with regards to workplace health and safety regulations.Carry out other duties as reasonably requested by the Community Leader-Wembley Community.Responsibilities:Tues & Thurs4.00pm to 7.00pmEmpty the dishwasher from the previous day and reload rinsed dishes and clean kitchen.Prepare the main meal for the full Community and serve at 5.45 pmNote food items/groceries needing to be purchased.Maintain the kitchen, kitchen appliances, dining room, adjacent tearoom and food storage areas as clean and hygienic.Refill water and juice jugs after each meal and place in dining-room refrigerator.After dinner mop the dining room and kitchen floors.Fill milk jugs in dining room and common roof refrigerators.Replace tea-towels daily. Dirty items to the laundry.As needed bake a cake for morning tea. Maintain a supply of biscuits.Remake the beds for Brothers as needed, usually using the same linen.Generally, laundry will be done Monday, Wednesday and Friday but occasionally there may be a need for emergency laundry to be attended to.If time complete ironing left from previous day.Cleaning:Generally cleaning will be done Monday, Wednesday and Friday but occasionally there may be a need for emergency cleaning to be attended to.Put the bins out on the street for emptying by Cambridge Council early Friday morning.Responsibilities:Fri-12.00pm to 7.00pmAs for Monday and Wednesday except:New linen will arrive from Brightwater Linen. This will be stacked in the laundry cupboard.Attend to any laundry tasks remaining.
