About the role
We're on the hunt for an experienced Rig Mechanic who is highly motivated and enthusiastic about working with Oil & Gas Workover/Drilling Rigs.
You will play a crucial role in our operations, reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent and working closely with Operations and Field staff to ensure our rig fleet operates seamlessly.
This role is field based, offering an even time 2:2 week DIDO and/or FIFO roster from Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, or Melbourne.
We also welcome local applicants, who are based out of Chinchilla (Queensland) or surrounding areas.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Adherence to company and client policies and procedures
Correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Interpret engineering, schematic and mechanical diagrams, drawings or specifications to determine job requirements
Diagnose faults and provide technical support to ensure uninterrupted operations
Inspect and repair heavy vehicles and trailers as per the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (Maintenance)
Service, inspect, maintain, and repair rig and support equipment to achieve Mechanical Availability targets
Manage inspection and re-certification of critical components
Liaise with the Rig Manager, Driller and other Field Staff as required to schedule Preventive and Corrective Maintenanceof rig equipment
Ensure materials, parts and equipment for maintenance are ordered and replenished in a timely manner to maintain required inventory levels and to meet deadlines
Maintain detailed maintenance records for work completed using company systems
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will:
Possess physical strength and stamina to be able to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position.
Demonstrate a commitment to safety.
Follow written and oral instructions effectively.
Have solid report writing skills and attention to detail.
Be willing to learn and grow with the Nitschke family.
Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
Have proven troubleshooting and autonomous working abilities.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screen
Preferably the candidate will have experience with:
Working within the Oil & Gas or Mining Industry
National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme - Maintenance
Centrifugal Pumps
Advanced Hydraulic/Pneumatic systems knowledge
Experience with 4WD Vehicles, Toyota; Isuzu, Mercedes Benz, Western Star, Volvo, Scania Trucks and JCB Telehandlers is highly regarded
Experience working with High Pressure Air Compressors and Boosters
Candidatemust meet the below criteria to be considered:
Hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate (Diesel / Heavy Vehicle / Mobile Plant)
Valid Vehicle Drivers Licence (C Class Minimum)
Willingness to travel Nationally (as required)
