Take the next step in your nursing journey with the Sexual Health Services team as a Nurse Unit Manager. You will step into a pivotal leadership role where your clinical expertise and operational insight directly shape the future of sexual health services. You’ll guide a skilled multi‑disciplinary team, collaborate with senior leadership and community partners, and help deliver a service that is not only efficient and professional but deeply responsive to the evolving needs of our clients.
About us:
Cairns Sexual Health Services is a large clinic providing free and confidential STI testing, HIV and BBV, contraception, fertility control, and transgender care. Core clients include youth, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people living with HIV, gender diverse, and those seeking pregnancy options. The multidisciplinary team includes doctors, CNCs, Clinical Nurses, a social worker, psychologists, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, and Health Promotion staff.
About you:
In your new role you will……
* Provide contemporary leadership skills to manage and direct this innovative and dynamic service ensuring ongoing quality improvement and service development.
* Support and empower members of the team to utilise their skills and talents to further develop service provision and an environment of excellence and inclusion.
* Use effective change management skills including negotiation, consultation and communication to lead the development and implementation of change processes, risk management practices and service improvement activities.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will…..
* Provide effective management of human and material resources in line with contemporary principles of human resource management and financial governance.
* Display comfort dealing with documentation of sexual practices, sex, and gender diversity and explicit language relating to sexuality, lifestyle, and sexual practice.
* Knowledge of relevant clinical terminology in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
