Ecologist Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced ecologist to join our team as a BAM Accredited Assessor. As a senior ecologist, you will lead and deliver biodiversity assessments under the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS).
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to utilize your knowledge of NSW field botany and fauna identification, as well as your experience with long-term monitoring projects and environmental legislation.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing BAM reports, shaping offset strategies, and guiding clients through BOS requirements. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior ecologists and contribute to our company's strong technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver biodiversity assessments under the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS)
* Prepare BAM reports, shape offset strategies, and guide clients through BOS requirements
* Manage or support field surveys, stakeholder engagement, and client relationships
* Mentor junior ecologists and contribute to our company's strong technical excellence
Requirements
* BAM Assessor accreditation under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016
* Strong NSW field botany and/or fauna identification and solid knowledge of threatened species and ecological communities
* Proven ability with NSW vegetation classification, flora/fauna survey methods, and spatial mapping
* Experience with long-term monitoring projects
* Working knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation
* Experience preparing environmental assessments and management plans
* Passion for collaborative science and purpose-driven consulting
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience in offset site assessments or credit trading
* Previous consulting experience
* A desire to mentor and share knowledge with others
