About the Role
We are seeking a Rail Supervisor – Telecommunications to oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications systems for major rail clients across Western Australia.
This is a 6-month fixed-term contract, with a strong likelihood of extension based on project requirements and performance. The role is hands‐on and site-focused, requiring strong leadership capability to coordinate field teams working on fibre networks, IP/MPLS systems, radio communications, and integration with rail signalling and operational systems.
You will play a critical role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and rail standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision
* Lead field teams including technicians, subcontractors, and installation crews
Delivery Execution
* Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications systems
* Ensure works are delivered in accordance with design, specifications, and project timelines
Safety & Compliance
* Enforce strict adherence to rail safety standards, permits, and procedures
* Conduct site safety briefings, inspections, and risk assessments
Coordination
* Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, and client representatives to coordinate site activities
* Manage site schedules, shutdown works, and access within live rail corridor environments
Quality Assurance
* Monitor workmanship and ensure quality standards are consistently met
* Support testing, fault finding, and issue resolution on‐site
* Coordinate daily work plans, resources, and site logistics
* Supervise works during rail shutdowns, night shifts, and operational windows
* Review technical drawings and ensure accurate implementation in the field
* Maintain site records, reports, and progress updates
* Identify and elevate risks, delays, or technical issues
* Support commissioning and handover activities
What You'll Bring
* Proven experience in a supervisory or leading hand role within the rail telecommunications sector (essential)
* Strong background in telecommunications field work, including fibre optics, structured cabling, and radio systems
* RIW card
* Solid understanding of rail corridor working requirements and safety protocols
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Experience working within Public Transport Authority (PTA) or similar rail environments (highly regarded)
* Experience working on Nokia telecommunications projects (highly regarded)
* Strong leadership and team coordination skills
* Excellent problem‐solving ability in fast‐paced site environments
* Willingness to work night shifts, shutdowns, and in live rail environments
Reporting to the Senior Rail Project Manager, you will work closely with Project Engineers and delivery teams to ensure safe and successful execution of works on site.
Location
Based in Perth, Western Australia, with regular work across rail corridor sites and project locations. Travel to various sites and participation in shutdown works will be required.
