ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an unusual opportunity for someone who is seeking challenging and diverse accountabilities within a collaborative, forward-looking and friendly environment. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this is your chance to become a key go to person and point of contact for the Board and Senior Leadership team through your ability to provide:
Corporate governance support to the Board, CEO and specialist Committees;
High level executive and administrative/project support to the office of the CEO and USU Board whilst also contributing to the effective operation of the Organisation; and
Effective management of elections as the USU's Electoral Officer.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Schedule all Board, Committee and Working Party meetings with relevant members
Attend meetings of the Board, Executive, General Meetings of the Union and other committees from time to time
Coordinate, plan and organise USU's AGM and other General Meetings
Be a key point of contact for Board and Staff Directors, the President and University stakeholders
Organise all records and files regarding Union Board activities and correspondence
Organise annual Board and Committee induction processes
Work with the USU President and CEO to be cognisant of all USU Constitutional and Regulatory requirements
Provide administrative support to the office of the CEO
Work with the CEO on special projects including research and report preparation
Ensure the legal processes of a limited company are followed and legally compliant
Provide recommendations to ensure compliance and best practice
Act as the USU's Electoral Officer and Deputy Returning Officer where required
Build a cross-functional team to ensure successful delivery of elections
Work with the CEO to ensure effective Corporate Governance Documentation and File Management
YOU WILL HAVE
Strong literacy skills with excellent grammar and spelling; extremely good attention to detail
Excellent technology and typing skills
Strong understanding of principles of corporate governance
Experience at senior secretarial level
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Ability to work with mínimal supervision and to exercise initiative
High level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate to USU staff and key external stakeholders in a professional manager
Pro-active approach in all you do.
Strong organisational skills
Discretion and maintenance of confidentiality
DESIRABLE SKILLS
Interest in corporate affairs of NFP membership organisations
Knowledge of a University environment
Prior experience in a PA/EA or legal/company secretary role or similar
HOURS OF WORK
35 hours per week (Full Time, 5 days a week) or 21 hours per week (Part Time, 3 days a week)
The Pay
$65,000 - $72,000 (depending on experience) per annum pro rata + 10.5% Superannuation

The USU (University of Sydney Union) is a not-for-profit organisation, whose purpose is to be the heart of campus life and we have been doing that since 1874.
Led by a student board elected by our members, the USU provides events on campus such as WelcomeFest, festivals, events and parties. We also run an amazing array of programs, including an active volunteering program and a Language Exchange Program, to name a few. We support over 200 Clubs and Societies as well as operate bars, food and retail outlets across campus, providing great coffee, fresh affordable food, graduation gown hire and official USYD merchandise.
