What You'll Be Doing
Far West LHD is committed to growing a dedicated and sustained Rural Generalist medical workforce to assist in improving access, quality, and sustainability of primary health care services for rural and remote communities.
Rural Generalist trainees will undertake learning and professional development activities with the aim of progressing through training towards either Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP-RG).

About Broken Hill

Being Australia's first city to be Nationally Heritage Listed, Broken Hill is a culturally rich town with a vibrant art scene with over 20 galleries (more than pubs) The unique attractions, festivals and beautiful natural landscapes see tourists flock from all over, but the ones who stay quickly fall in love with the place and its liveability.
With a population of around 20,000, Broken Hill is small enough to allow for a relaxed country lifestyle, while big enough to provide all the desired facilities of a regional hub including major supermarkets and retail stores, excellent schools (7 primary & 2 high), multiple gyms & aquatic centre, well-known fast-food franchises and a plethora of trendy restaurants, pubs and cafés.
Selection Criteria
MBBS or equivalent, completion of postgraduate years 1 (PGY1) and 2 (PGY2), AND current unconditional general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
At least three post-graduate years' experience as a medical officer by the commencement of the position, AND qualifications and experience commensurate with Essential Requirements for the role. OR At least two post-graduate years' experience as a medical officer by the commencement of the position, AND must be a current GP Trainee (enrolled in either FRACGP-RG or FACRRM via AGPT, RVTS or ACRRM Independent Pathway), AND qualifications and experience commensurate with Essential Requirements for the role.
Demonstrated genuine interest in a future career as a Rural Generalist.
Demonstrated ability to work within a complex clinical environment utilising appropriate clinical skills, judgment, and expertise.
Evidence of excellent communication skills, including both oral and written skills and a sensitive approach to clear communication with patients, carers, other professional and the public.
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health Code of Conduct and NSW Health CORE Values, including bullying and harassment policy and guidelines.
Valid NSW Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check and compliance with NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, including any amendments made from time.
