Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will engage with a wide range of industries, assisting in mechanical engineering research, design, manufacture, construction, operation, and maintenance of machines, manufacturing equipment, mechanical installations, and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of Mechanical Engineers and Technicians.
* Assisting in the design of mechanical equipment and plant.
* Selecting tools and equipment.
* Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and controls, and hydraulic power systems.
* Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements.
* Performing and directing field and laboratory tests.
* Collecting and analyzing data, carrying out complex computations, and preparing diagrams.
* Organizing and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant.
* Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations, and contract provisions.
Requirements
* A Mechanical Engineering Technician qualification (e.g., Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma) or equivalent.
* A sound understanding of hydraulic systems, including:
o Fixed Displacement systems.
o Closed Loop Hydraulic Transmission.
o Pressure & Flow Compensated (Load Sense).
o Electro Proportional hydraulic control.
* The ability to read and understand hydraulic schematic drawings.
* At least five years of relevant experience.
* A good eye for detail.
* Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* Willingness to work remotely occasionally (mines and oil rigs).
