If so, Rockhampton Youth Justice is seeking a dedicated professional to take on the role of Youth, Family & Community Resource Officer. The role provides support and intervention services to young people subject to a youth justice intervention, their families, and communities with a goal of reducing the over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in the youth justice system.
As a Youth, Family and Community Resource Officer, you will specifically:
* Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Deliver support and intervention services to young people subject to a youth justice intervention, their families, and communities in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
* Implement culturally appropriate individualised case plans through designing and implementing intervention strategies, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government and non-government agencies).
* Participate productively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality service outcomes.
* Liaise and develop effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including families, elders, other key community members, community agencies and Government departments.
* Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case records, preparation of reports, performance reporting and data entry to ensure casework and organisational accountability.
* Actively participate in training and development activities to develop and maintain an appropriate knowledge and skills base to ensure that service delivery is consistent with departmental priorities and objectives, service objectives, current trends and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the directorate and department.
Mandatory Requirements
* Travel is a requirement of this position; therefore, it is a requirement that the applicant hold a current 'C' Class Drivers licence.
* Applicants are encouraged to provide a referee who is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities. (This is not a mandatory requirement).
* This role is designated as Regulated employment as the position provides support services to children and young people, and therefore will require a valid Blue Card to be linked with the organisation prior to starting. Please refer to the Blue Card Services website ( for further information.
