ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Learning & Development Specialist, your responsibilities are:Understand and interpret production workflows, processes, and constraints.work closely with production and training teams to identify training needs aligned with operational requirements, while reviewing U.S. training approaches and adapting best practices to the Australian contextDesign and maintain training programs that reflect real-world production conditions.Ensure training facilities, tools, and simulations replicate operational standards.Administer and optimise training management software (e.g., LMS, scheduling tools).
Generate reports and analytics to track training compliance and effectiveness.Liaise with production managers, trainers, and technical specialists to ensure alignment.Provide guidance on integrating new technologies or processes into training programs.Eligibility CriteriaThe successful applicant must possess:An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearanceTrade-qualified or hands-on technical experience in a production setting.Strong understanding of production environments and operational workflows.Experience managing or using training management software systems.Ability to translate technical requirements into practical training solutions.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Ability to write and interpret complex technical documentation with clarity and accuracyExperienced in translating complex technical information and analysing data to identify trends and actionable outcomesDuring deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training.
This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines.
