So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.We are seeking an experienced and passionate Engineering Manager to lead our Web Workflows team. This role requires a blend of strong technical understanding of frontend and web infrastructure, excellent people management skills, and a deep empathy for developer pain points. You'll be working alongside other Engineering Managers who lead Platform Workflows and Backend Workflows, jointly aligning on strategy, resourcing, and roadmap cohesion across the infra stack.At the moment, this role is focused on:Leading a team of 7 engineers to improve web developer workflows, tools, and infrastructure at scaleDriving strategy and execution to reduce friction for frontend developers across CanvaCollaborating with Platform and Backend Workflow teams to ensure a cohesive DevEx journeyMentoring engineers, managing team rituals, and supporting individual growth and performanceOverseeing high-impact projects like improving TypeScript IDE performance, server rebuilds, and dev environment stabilityPartnering cross-functionally to elevate developer experience from idea to productionYou're probably a match ifYou’ve led high-performing engineering teams and love coaching and scaling othersYou bring hands-on expertise with frontend dev tooling—TypeScript, Webpack, IDEs, BazelYou’ve worked in large-scale monorepos and thrive on improving developer experienceYou have a strategic mind, strong technical judgment, and a collaborative leadership styleYou’re energised by solving pain points that improve engineering velocity and satisfactionYou champion performance, reliability, and simplicity in everything you shipAbout the teamWeb Workflows sits within Canva’s Developer Experience group.
