Our client is looking for a Parks and Sustainability Natural Areas Driver. The Natural Area Conservation Driver Labourer is responsible for providing general labouring and driving duties and operating various plant equipment, associated with development and maintenance works in natural areas conservation, within the Natural Areas Section of the the Parks and Reservices Business unit.
They Assist with Land care / Bush care duties involving the awareness of native eco systems and the eradication of threatening processes.
The position is a temporary position for an immediate start. Monday to Friday with a 9 day fortnight. The hours will be 6:10-3:10 for two weeks then swap to 6:30-3:30 for two weeks, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities include:
- Management of bushlands, wetland and coastal dune environs, as directed by supervisor and leading hand. Specific duties may include coastal maintenance, weeding, planting and watering, track pruning, firebreak maintenance, mapping, fencing - including erosion control
- The operation of various mechanical plant equipment including ride on cutter mowers, blade brush cutter, back pack blowers, chain saws (including pole saws), hedgers and various hand-held tools (i.e. pruners, hammers)
- The operation of council 4WD utilities and trucks, with trailers. Loading and unloading various vehicles
- Manual and chemical weed control to manage invasive weeds, whilst working with native plants. Involves the awareness and the safe use of pesticides and herbicides in the conservation of natural areas
- Other general tasks including rubbish collection, midge sampling, water sampling, cutting species from native plants (e.g. Mandurah) and transporting to local dunes, snake removal, if required (are trained to remove snakes), occasional community events / engagement
- Notifying conservation tradesperson of servicing and repair requirements for plant and equipment
- Administrative duties including completion of timesheets, plant start-up and shut down checks, site-specific records and reporting of plant defects
- Attend and participation in regular toolbox meetings with field staff encompassing workplace safety, work practices and schedules and related issues.
Requirements for the role:
