About The Ration Shed Museum: The Ration Shed Museum has been part of the Cherbourg Community since 2006 and is committed to preserving and sharing First Nations local history. Since the completion of their Strategic Business Plan in 2024, the focus has been on supporting growth and stability through the Consolidating Our Future project and expanding markets for Indigenous artists and craftworkers. Key Requirements: The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: Identification as an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander person. Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity regarding First Nations people and the local community. Dynamic people skills with a strong customer service focus. The ability to engage with visitors. The ability to speak publicly and present information clearly and accurately. Established reception, administration and computer skills. A strong team orientation with the willingness to do what it takes to achieve the team objectives. A current Qld Working with Children Blue Card and National Police Check OR be eligible to quickly acquire. Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants also able to offer any of the following: Qualifications or certificates in Business, Hospitality, Retail or other relevant fields. Key Duties: The following represents an overview of the scope of the duties to be performed: Assist with receiving and responding promptly to phone, email and in-person enquiries. Conduct tour guide activities for booked groups and individuals. Interact and engage with visitors to encourage feedback. Prepare, pack away and clean equipment and venue spaces at the conclusion of booked events and tours. Complete relevant documentation and maintain accurate records Process gallery / gift shop sales.
