We're Knobby. And we're not here to blend in.
For over 10 years, Knobby has been delivering confidence and a little cheekiness to people everywhere. We sell a pair of undies every 36 seconds, our community keeps growing stronger (and more comfy), and we've built a brand proudly known as the official underwear of fun!
Along the way, we've scaled a fast-growing e-commerce and retail business, built a loyal global following, and most recently became the Official Underwear Supplier for the Australian Team for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Now we're looking for a Financial Controller to lead the financial engine behind Knobby and ensure the numbers stay just as strong.
About the Role
This role sits at the centre of Knobby's financial operations as we continue to scale. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the leadership team, you'll take ownership of Knobby's finance function, ensuring the numbers behind the business remain accurate, compliant and well-controlled, while giving leadership the clarity and insights needed to make confident decisions as we grow.
From payroll and compliance through to working capital, budgeting and financial reporting, you'll keep Knobby's finance operations running smoothly.
What You'll Be Responsible For
* Payroll & Compliance - Managing weekly payroll and ensuring accurate processing of PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and WorkCover obligations. Maintaining compliance with Fair Work and ATO requirements, including accurate employee leave, benefits and superannuation records, and adherence to Payday Super obligations.
* Tax & Regulatory Reporting - Preparing and lodging BAS and IAS, quarterly NZ GST and UK VAT returns, and annual FBT returns (including quarterly reviews of fringe benefits). Liaising with external tax accountants on compliance, year-end reporting and advisory matters.
* Controls & Risk Management - Maintaining strong financial controls across the business, including expense policies, approval processes and retail cash handling procedures. Monitoring cash positions and financial risks, ensuring governance processes are consistently applied.
* Working Capital & Reporting - Delivering monthly management accounts and variance analysis to leadership, with visibility over working capital performance (inventory, receivables, payables and cash cycle). Supporting budgeting and forecasting, analysing margins and inventory ageing, maintaining departmental P&Ls, and improving reporting and insights across e-commerce and retail operations.
* Month-End & Oversight - Ensuring accurate and timely month-end close processes, including reconciliations across bank accounts, sales channels and balance sheet accounts, and managing intercompany journals, royalties and allocations. Maintaining supporting workpapers, performing asset ledger maintenance and reconciliation on a monthly basis, supervising the offshore bookkeeper, and liaising with tax accountants to support annual financial statements and tax preparation.
