About The Venue
Located just one hour south of Sydney in the scenic Illawarra region, Novotel Wollongong Northbeach is a premium 4.5-star beachfront hotel overlooking North Wollongong Beach. About The Role
As Director of Sales & Marketing, you'll lead the hotel's commercial strategy across rooms, events, and F&B. You'll drive revenue through targeted sales and marketing initiatives, build strong industry relationships, and position the hotel as a leading beachfront destination. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this hands-on role is ideal for a strategic, energetic leader with a passion for people, performance, and growing market share.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans across corporate, leisure, and group segments
* Lead the annual RFP process including rate strategy, bid submissions, and negotiation for corporate preferred accounts
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners including event planners, PCOs, associations, and incentive houses
* Develop targeted sales and marketing strategies to grow the MICE segment and drive high-value event business
* Partner with the Revenue Manager to analyse market trends, competitor performance, and pricing strategy to maximise yield
* Utilise Delphi.fdc (or similar system) for effective pipeline management, lead assignment, account tracking, and reporting
* Represent Novotel Wollongong Northbeach, Oscars Group, and Accor at key industry events, trade shows, and networking functions
* Oversee the hotel's digital marketing strategy in collaboration with internal teams and third-party partners
* Monitor e-commerce and OTA channel performance, ensuring content optimisation, rate parity, and effective promotions
* Lead, coach, and inspire the Sales & Marketing team to achieve departmental targets and uphold service excellence
* Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and business planning to support long-term revenue growth
* Identify new business opportunities and drive conversion through proactive sales activity and innovative campaigns
* Foster a high-performance culture that champions collaboration, accountability, and commercial success
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business, or a related discipline
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar senior Sales & Marketing role within the hospitality industry
* Experience using Delphi.fdc (or similar system)
* Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and exceeding targets
* In-depth understanding of revenue management and pricing strategy
* Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities
* Skilled in digital marketing, brand positioning, and content strategy
* Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
* Energetic, strategic, and results-oriented with a passion for hospitality
