Wollongong Private Hospital is set in the heart of Wollongong's Medical Precinct, the brand new purpose designed building sets the benchmark in private health care facilities in the Illawarra. The 171 bed facility includes 10 state of the art operating theatres, angiography suite, day surgery unit, 10 bed intensive care unit, 6 coronary care beds, 8 chair day oncology ward, 25 bed maternity unit, and a 6 cot special care nursery. Surgical specialties include Cardiothoracics, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, interventional cardiology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, Head and Neck, Gynaecological, Urology, Colorectal, upper GI, General, Vascular and Plastics.
Figtree Private Hospital is a 58 bed facility that has been providing a caring, quality service to residents of the Illawarra for more than 40 years. In addition to its reputation as a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility, the hospital is also home to the Illawarra Early Parenting Centre, a unique post-natal support service, guiding families through common parenting challenges such as sleep and settling concerns, feeding difficulties and adjusting to parenting.
The opportunity
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading the operations of Wollongong Private Hospital and Figtree Private Hospital, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care in line with Ramsay’s strategic direction. Reporting to the State Manager, the CEO will build and lead a high-performing team, drive financial and operational performance, and ensure continuous service improvement across the hospitals.
Key responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer include:
* Leading and supporting a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative culture aligned with Ramsay’s values.
* Developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance service delivery, foster community engagement, and contribute to long-term growth opportunities.
* Working closely with your Director of Finance to ensure financial stewardship, compliance with regulations, and improving resource utilisation across the hospitals.
* Working closely with your Director of Clinical Services to ensure quality management, clinical governance and the delivery of safe, sustainable care.
* Engaging with stakeholders, representing Ramsay within the community, and promoting partnerships to support healthcare advancements and advocacy.
About you
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader with proven expertise in operational management, financial acumen and stakeholder engagement. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to Ramsay’s mission, driving operational excellence to achieve strategic outcomes.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in managing complex healthcare operations, with strong financial acumen and the ability to foster effective relationships, particularly in medical environments. Your hands-on approach will be key in managing diverse teams, fostering growth, and ensuring operational efficiency across clinical and non-clinical areas.
A genuine commitment to delivering patient centred care, driving continuous improvement, and identifying and fostering new business opportunities for organisational growth is essential. Your ability to inspire transformation, implement innovative solutions, and maintain strong partnerships will be critical to success in this role.
