CBRE's Commercial Valuations – Metro Melbourne team is seeking a Property Student to join us as a Database Assistant, an important entry‐level role designed to support our growing valuation team and provide a strong foundation for a career in commercial property valuations.
This position is ideal for a second‐year student looking for hands‐on industry experience alongside their studies, with clear exposure to the valuation process and long‐term development opportunities.
The Opportunity:
As a Database Assistant, your work will directly support valuation outcomes across commercial mortgage and valuation work within metro Melbourne. Your responsibilities will include:
* Collecting, verifying and entering sales and leasing evidence into CBRE's Commercial Valuations database
* Following up with commercial agents via phone and email to confirm transaction details (sale prices, lease terms, incentives, etc.)
* Supporting valuers by analysing market transactions, comparable sales and rental evidence
* Assisting with commercial valuation reports and asset data as your capability grows
* Exposure to office, retail, industrial, typically valued up to ~$20m
This role requires confidence communicating with agents, strong attention to detail, and a genuine willingness to support the valuation team.
About you:
This role will suit a student who understands the commercial valuation career pathway and is committed to building a future in valuations. You will ideally have:
* At least two years remaining of an API approved property degree (2nd or 3rd year student preferred)
* Clear understanding of the valuation qualification process (graduate experience, supervised training, API exams and CPV qualification)
* A genuine interest in commercial valuations and specific asset classes
* Strong analytical skills, particularly interpreting sales and leasing evidence
* Confidence speaking with agents and internal stakeholders
* Strong written and verbal English communication skills, team focused approach and strong work ethic
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn valuation systems
