**About Guiding Light Care**
Guiding Light Care provides person-centred community and accommodation supports for NDIS participants across Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie and The Hunter. We pair consistent staffing with strong therapeutic oversight - every team is clinically supported by a Mental Health Registered Nurse and an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner. Our focus is safe practice, predictable routines, and meaningful outcomes.
**The role**
You will provide high-quality daily living and community support to adults with psychosocial disability, autism, intellectual disability, and complex needs. You will help people build skills, maintain routines, stay connected, and pursue goals. Shifts include daytime, afternoons, sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays across SIL, ILO, drop-in support, and community access.
**What you'll do**
- Deliver respectful personal care, medication prompts, meal prep, domestic tasks, and community participation.
- Use positive behaviour support plans, low-restrictive strategies, and calm communication during periods of distress.
- Support appointments, transport, shopping, social and recreational activities.
- Record accurate notes, risk observations, and incident information in line with NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Code of Conduct.
- Work as part of a consistent support team with timely handovers and clear boundaries.
- Uphold safeguarding, dignity, and choice in every interaction.
**What you'll bring**
- Experience in disability, mental health, aged care, youth work, or community services.
- Calm, practical communication and strong professional boundaries.
- Reliability - you turn up on time, follow the plan, and document clearly.
- Current unrestricted driver's licence and reliable comprehensively insured vehicle suitable for transporting participants.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain).
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module completion prior to start.

We are recruiting across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, and the Hunter. Please indicate your suburb and availability window across 7 days.

Pay: $35.00 - $43.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
