Position Information
Balgowlah Heights Public School was established in 1933 and proudly serves the local community of Balgowlah Heights and Clontarf. We currently have 705 students in Years K-6, including 29 classes and a 5/6 Opportunity Class. The school has strong relationships with the Parents' and Citizens' Association and values parent/carer involvement in learning programs. We value student wellbeing, student voice, and promote respect, responsibility and personal best. Extensive grounds and resources support sport, music, technology and a range of extracurricular activities such as band, dance, choir, drama, strings, coding, chess, debating and public speaking. The successful applicant will contribute to building a learning environment underpinned by evidence‐based explicit teaching, data‐informed practice and a strong focus on student wellbeing.
Responsibilities
The Teacher Librarian will lead and manage the school library as a stimulating learning hub, utilising both physical and digital resources and supporting the full K‐6 curriculum.
Qualifications
* Approval to teach Primary Library or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education, with a commitment to deliver engaging library and information literacy programs.
* Capacity and willingness to manage a school library, including library management systems and digital technologies.
* Proven strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with an ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
* Demonstrated ability to manage student behaviour, engagement and wellbeing in the library by establishing clear expectations, through PBL.
Conditions
* An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
