What you'll be doing
A temporary full-time position exists for a Health Promotion Officer – Smoking & Vaping Prevention Team, within the ISLHD Health Promotion Service.
This role involves working with members of the Smoking and Vaping Prevention Team to develop, implement and evaluate a range of programs to prevent the uptake of, and support people to stop smoking and vaping. This includes:
1. Working in partnership with other stakeholders to meet statewide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to reduce Smoking in Pregnancy.
2. Strengthening the implementation of the NSW Health Smoke-free Health Care Policy across ISLHD facilities, working with clinical staff to support patients to manage their nicotine dependence or stop smoking prior to, or while in hospital.
3. Building the capacity of key school-based and youth services staff to address the emerging area of electronic cigarette use among young people.
4. Working in partnership with community stakeholders to support people from priority populations to stop smoking.
The successful applicant will have excellent, demonstratable skills and knowledge in tobacco control and smoking cessation and be able to work in a team, in addition to working independently as required.
This is a temporary full time position until 6 April 2025 with the possibility of an extension subject to funding
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.
