About the role
We are seeking an experienced SAP HCM Lead ABAP Developer to join a prominent Queensland Government department. In this critical role, you will lead an S/4HANA conversion project focusing on custom code compliance and optimization within the Human Capital Management (HCM) line of business. You will be responsible for ensuring technical excellence through the application of modern "clean core" principles and best-practice development standards.
What you'll be doing
1. Lead the technical design, development, testing and implementation of high-quality SAP solutions
2. Collaborate with project teams to gather and document business requirements
3. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and work plans
4. Mentor and provide guidance to more junior developers in the team
5. Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability and security requirements
6. Proactively identify and resolve issues, minimising disruption to ongoing projects
7. Document technical designs, configurations and code to support maintainability
What we're looking for
1. 5+ years' experience as an SAP developer, with a strong working knowledge of SAP technologies including ABAP, Fiori, and S/4HANA
2. Extensive experience in full-stack SAP solution design and development
3. Deep understanding of SAP architecture, data structures, and integration patterns
4. Proven track record of leading technical teams and mentoring junior developers
5. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
6. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline
