Job Description
This role involves performing various road maintenance and civil construction tasks. These tasks include inspections, hazard rectification, and manual labor, all while adhering to safety and quality protocols. The role requires flexibility in working hours and may involve travel within the state.
The position is responsible for:
* Performing a variety of road, roadside, and bridge maintenance activities under general supervision.
* Operating various plant safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
* Installing signs and traffic control devices in accordance with traffic management plans, under general supervision.
* Constructing and maintaining other road and roadside furniture, and other minor civil works and safety improvements in accordance with best practices and procedures.
* Responding to emergencies under general supervision.
The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge and skills in project delivery, critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, continuous improvement, and adherence to policies and guidelines.
Key qualifications for the role include:
* A current Victorian driver's license.
* A current Medium Rigid truck license.
* Licenses and tickets in plant operation, traffic management, chainsaw, and first aid, as well as a Construction Induction White Card.
* A working knowledge of computer tablets/mobile devices.
Desirable qualifications include:
* A Certificate III in Civil Construction.
* An understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems.
* A strong knowledge of the Road Management Plan.
* A strong understanding of Maintenance Specification Section 750.
