The Post-Sale Systems Engineering team is the technical life and blood of Motorola Solutions Systems Integration Organisation. Our engineers are focused on designing and implementing complex communication solutions for Solving for Safer. We act as solution architects and technical consultants, managing the entire post-sale project lifecycle from concept to deployment, including design, consultancy, and implementation. Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Staff Systems Engineer to lead a team of talented systems engineers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical leadership, management, and growth of the systems engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions that meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of systems engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
* Oversee the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition and analysis to system design, integration, and validation of complex mission-critical public safety systems.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, software development, and hardware engineering, to define system architectures and technical roadmaps.
* Ensure adherence to industry standards, best practices, and internal processes for systems engineering.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the systems engineering function.
* Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets for systems engineering activities.
* Represent the systems engineering team in customer interactions and technical discussions.
* Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
* Manage operational and fiscal activities, including staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
* Accountable for and contribute towards profitability and/or cost containment by indirectly impacting the P&L through project work, tools development, and/or functional management.
* Regularly interface with senior Motorola leadership, key internal/external organisations and governmental bodies.
* Coordinate activities and direction through highly matrixed relationships.
* Manage activities with complex or conflicting legal requirements, technology requirements, or cultures.
* Adept at guiding, enabling and mentoring team members.
* Recognised by peers and key work partners for engineering expertise, knowledge of business needs, knowledge of customer operations, and the ability to guide resources to obtain objectives.
* Responsible for customer satisfaction and quality of engineering deliverables within the scope of assigned activities.
* Responsible for the productivity and professional growth of assigned employees.
* Active participation in Bid reviews (System Integration cost estimates) and Presales Engagement.
Qualifications
* Bachelors or Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
* Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and tools.
* Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing engineering teams.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Experience with mission-critical communication systems or public safety technologies is highly desirable.
