Mental Health Practitioner Role
This is a challenging and rewarding role that involves working with the Department of Education Regional Mental Health Branch to enhance mental health prevention and promotion activities in the school, provide early intervention services, and coordinate supports for students with complex needs.
The successful applicant will be an experienced professional who can work autonomously and with minimal supervision. The role supports the educational services being provided to students, but does not include teaching duties.

Responsibilities:
* Providing advice and professional learning to teachers and other wellbeing staff to build capacity and improve student outcomes.
* Delivering professional support services in the school, including mental health prevention and promotion activities and early intervention activities.
* Planning and implementing evidence-based strategies for students with complex needs, including collaboration with families, professionals and agencies as necessary.
* Liaising with other department areas and external service providers to provide appropriate support to students.

Selection Criteria:
* Ability to implement small group and whole-school mental health prevention and promotion activities.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of processes and strategies aimed at enhancing mental health and wellbeing prevention, promotion and early intervention.
* Demonstrated experience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing wellbeing issues, and providing direct counselling support.
* Demonstrated experience in coordinating supports for young people with complex needs.

Requirements:
* Qualifications: Psychologist, social worker, mental health nurse, occupational therapist or counsellor of a prescribed class.
* Registration/Accreditation: Full registration with AHPRA (psychologists), full registration with AHPRA and postgraduate qualification in mental health (mental health nurses), eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (social workers), full registration with AHPRA (occupational therapists), completed Bachelor or Master of Counselling and practising membership of ACA or PACFA (counsellors).
* Direct Counselling Experience: Demonstrated experience in direct counselling.
* Working With Children Check: Current.
