An exciting opportunity for an experienced communications leader to play a key role in a frontline government agency responsible for protecting Territorians during emergencies, based in Darwin.
The NTFES Communications and Media Unit provides advice and support in media management, marketing, digital and internal communications, website maintenance, stakeholder engagement, protocol and recognition matters, strategic communications, and communications policy.
Working closely with the Director Media and Communications, the successful applicant will provide trusted strategic advice to senior leaders, deliver integrated communications strategies and campaigns, and lead public information and community engagement initiatives that support organisational priorities and enhance community safety and confidence.
The role includes managing, mentoring and developing a small communications team, setting high professional standards, supporting capability development, and fostering a positive, inclusive and collaborative workplace culture. The successful applicant will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver coordinated communications outcomes.
This position plays a key role in media monitoring, issues and reputation management, and the delivery of timely, accurate public information during emergency events, including participation in an on call roster.
NT Fire and Emergency Services (NTFES) protects the Northern Territory during emergencies including fire, motor vehicle crashes, severe weather and natural disasters through prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
