Receptionist

Gold Coast
Hutchinson Builders
Receptionist
Posted: 13 June
Offer description

Hutchies is looking for a capable and motivated Receptionist to join our Southport office on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a key front-facing role, supporting the day-to-day running of the office while keeping things organised, presentable, and running smoothly. You'll be the first point of contact for visitors and the team, creating a professional and welcoming environment, while also providing essential administrative support behind the scenes.

This role is more than just admin — we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, thinks ahead, and is confident managing competing priorities in a fast‐paced environment.

As a member of the Hutchies team, you'll find yourself immersed in a supportive and collaborative work environment. We pride ourselves on our down to earth culture and the close knit relationships we build internally and through our projects.

The opportunities are diverse, providing you with unparalleled exposure to different projects and learning opportunities.

We value hard work and dedication, and we're excited to have your skills in our team.

Responsibilities

As the Receptionist, your responsibilities will include:

* Greet and assist visitors in a professional, friendly, and welcoming manner
* Provide general administrative and office support, including day-to-day coordination
* Book travel and coordinate itineraries
* Order and manage office stationery and supplies
* Maintain a clean, organised, and well‐presented office environment, including kitchen upkeep
* Coordinate cleaning services and general office maintenance
* Update and maintain documents and internal systems
* Support overall office presentation, including coordinating plant care and shared spaces
* Assist with ad hoc tasks as required by the Team Support Manager and wider team

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

* 2–3 years' experience in an administrative or office support role
* Strong attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy and organisation
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a busy environment
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable style
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general office systems
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Strong relationship‐building skills across a range of stakeholders
* A proactive and adaptable approach, with the confidence to take initiative and solve problems
* A high level of personal presentation and a commitment to maintaining standards

We're also looking for someone who is naturally organised, thinks ahead, and takes ownership of their work — including the small but important details that keep an office running well. You'll be approachable, reliable, and take a genuine pride in creating a positive environment for the team.

A willingness to learn is key — we're happy to provide support and training, however a positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential.

What we offer

At Hutchies, we offer more than a job. We offer a career built on support, opportunity and genuine connection.

You'll be part of a down‐to‐earth, family‐owned business with a proud history and a strong future. Our culture is collaborative, inclusive and people‐focused. We take an open‐door approach, where anyone can speak to anyone, at any time.

We work hard, celebrate our successes, and look after each other.

Career development and learning

We invest heavily in developing our people.

From structured programs like our Cadet Summer School and ongoing training, to hands‐on experience across live projects, you'll have opportunities to build skills and progress your career at Hutchies.

Eligible company members may also access our Global Building Exchange Program. This offers fully funded international placements with our partners in London (Wates) or Canada (Axiom). It's a chance to broaden your experience while working overseas.

Wellbeing & support

Your well‐being matters to us.

We provide access to industry‐leading Employee Assistance Programs for company members, their partners and immediate family members. We also support mental health through our long‐standing partnership with Mates in Construction.

Benefits & perks

As a Hutchies company member, you'll have access to a range of benefits, including:

* Discounted personal travel and flights
* Health insurance and wellbeing offers
* Superannuation options
* Vehicle purchasing programs
* Retail and lifestyle discounts
* Memberships and professional associations
* Social & recognition

Hutchies' social club brings people together throughout the year. We host regular events, family activities and team celebrations.

We also recognise long‐term commitment through service milestone awards and annual excellence awards. These celebrate the contribution and achievements of our people.

The Hutchies difference

Hutchies has been building the structures in which Australians live, work, study, shop and play since 1912. From our early beginnings, we have grown into a dynamic and diverse construction company, delivering sophisticated projects across a comprehensive portfolio.

We're not like other builders. Relationships are everything to us – whether it's with our people, our clients, or the local communities in which we live and work.

A fair go for all

Hutchies is all about equal opportunities and embracing diversity. Our commitment to an inclusive, people focused culture isn't just talk — it's who we are. Through initiatives like Statim Yaga and partnerships like NAWIC and UNIQ You, we're putting our values into action. So, whether you're part of our award winning Indigenous programs or advancing women in construction, you're part of a family that values long term relationships and community. We're not just building structures; we're building a workplace where everyone gets a fair go.
