The National Archives of Australia's Access and Public Engagement Branch is the public face of the institution, delivering reference, description and research services. This includes examination of records for release in the open period, exhibition, education and public programs, publishing, marketing, partnerships and events both on site and online.

The Assistant Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement role will lead and contribute to embedding a First Nations perspective into implementation activities for Strategy. Key duties include leading research and consulting with stakeholders to improve collection management practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander records, developing strategic direction, building staff capability and providing expert advice on engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

2. Develop strategic direction and build staff capability in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement.
3. Provide expert advice on engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
