Position context: The Hills Montessori School is a small, independent, non-sectarian, community school in the Adelaide Hills, which caters for students from birth to Year 9. The Infant Program, Preschool and Primary Programs are located at Yultiwirra campus in Aldgate and the Middle School is based at Wairoa campus in Stirling. The IT Technician will work across the two campuses of the school, working with and supporting staff and students and the school’s IT infrastructure.
Position summary: Monitor and maintain the computer systems, software and networks of The Hills Montessori School. Installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and applications problems. Providing basic training on hardware and software to the school staff. Offer advice regarding infrastructure, IT systems, programs and software to ensure efficient usage and practices within the school and optimal delivery of the student learning program. Offer support to teaching staff and students regarding the implementation of the ICT curriculum.
Desired outcomes:• The school ICT systems are secure, efficient and effective, enabling staff and students to optimally fulfil their work and learning.• The ICT Technician works with the ICT committee to implement the ICT Master Plan.• Quality collaborative working relationships are established with all staff and students.
Reporting/Working Relationships:• Directly responsible to the Business Manager.• Meet regularly with the Business Manager to discuss work.• Liaise with the admin staff, ICT committee, NAPLAN coordinator, teaching and assistant staff in relation to ICT needs.• Liaise and build relationships with external organisations, suppliers etc.

Knowledge:• High level understanding of ICT systems, software, hardware etc• Some understanding of ICT Australian curriculum requirements. (or willingness to learn)• Basic understanding of the Montessori approach to learning. (or willingness to learn)• Willingness to develop understanding of a school’s ICT needs.
Experience:• Demonstrated experience in working in an environment highly dependent on ICT. Highly desirable if applicant has worked in a school setting previously.• Proven ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
Qualifications:• Relevant ICT qualifications• First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)• Reporting Abuse and Neglect training (or obtained prior to commencement of work)• Working with Children check (or obtained prior to commencement of work)• Driver’s License

Role Description:The ICT Technician will:• Determine ongoing ICT needs• Install, configure and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, networks, wireless access points, printers and scanners.• Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.• Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests.• Provide technical support across the school (this may be in person or over the phone).• Set up accounts for new users/emails/web site access and other applications.• Test new technology.• Log all incidents and service requests.• Regularly conduct audits of all securities and virus protections and update where necessary.• Ensure system and data security is maintained at a high standard.• Oversee and manage hardware and maintain the ICT register.• Expedite the repair of hardware faults and software configuration problems, notifying or forwarding to relevant suppliers in a timely manner.• Assist with ongoing development and review of related policies and procedures and training manuals; train key personnel to optimise benefits.• Support teaching staff and students regarding ICT curriculum.• Liaise with the NAPLAN coordinator and provide support regarding the implementation of the NAPLAN testing.• Provide advice to the school regarding service level agreements with ICT providers.• Provide advice re: purchase and lease of new hardware/software/infrastructure.• Provide website and communication support to staff.• Carry out duties as requested by the Principal.• Attend meetings or other school functions as required by the Principal.• Act in accordance with school policies and fulfill WHS obligations regarding workplace safety.
