About This Role

Our Intensive Family Support Service helps strengthen families so children can live safely at home. We deliver voluntary services to families with complex needs and who are at risk of entering or escalating within the statutory child protection system.

This role is one of two Domestic and Family Violence Specialists in our multidisciplinary team, working alongside case managers to undertake risk assessment and provide effective, flexible and holistic intervention to families experiencing domestic violence.

Your day to day will include

* Support case managers by undertaking risk assessment, safety planning and coordinating responses for families experiencing domestic family violence (DFV)
* Provide therapeutic conversations and psychoeducation to victim/survivors of DFV to support empowerment, partnership, healing and ongoing safety to families.
* Work with Person's using Violence (where safe and appropriate to do so) to ensure accountability of actions from a parenting perspective to reduce risk and increase safety in the home for families.
* Liaise with key stakeholders and agencies including Police, Courts and specialist DFV services
* Complete relevant DFV and child protection safety planning to families, continually assessing risk and pivot approach to families and children as needed.
* Attend relevant High Risk Team meetings and DFV stakeholder meetings in the catchment
* Share relevant information and participate in the professional development of the team
* Efficient time management and organisational skills to balance competing demands and provide timely responses to clients

Skills And Experience

* A relevant tertiary (degree) qualification in social work, community services or similar.
* A clear understanding of child protection issues and mandatory reporting responsibilities.
* At least 3‐4 years' experience in a similar role.
* Experience providing direct case work and intervention to parents and children affected by trauma, domestic violence, mental health, or other forms of adversity using a strength based, therapeutic approach.
* Trained in Safe & Together highly regarded.
* Ability to assess risk, experience in using risk assessment tools and developing appropriate safety plans.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic violence including use of exclusion orders, DVOs, etc.
* Current driver's licence essential.
