About the Company

Proudly Australian and family‑owned, we have built an enviable reputation for our premium drinks, including our iconic Ginger Beer both nationally and around the globe.

For four generations and over fifty‑five years, we have kept tradition at heart, brewing to traditional recipes, using time‑honoured methods and the best quality ingredients. Guided by the rule, "if it's worth brewing; it's worth brewing well," our Ginger Beer is still craft‑brewed in the Australian town that shares its name with a traditional recipe, using locally sourced ginger.

The Role

We're seeking a talented legal professional looking to make the leap from law firm to a dynamic in‑house role, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This is a unique opportunity to see the tangible impact of your work in a growing FMCG business and leverage your expertise to shape real outcomes.

As the Legal Officer, you will take the lead in preparing and reviewing all contracts, collaborating closely with the CFO to strike a balance between legal and commercial considerations, aiming for a consistent standard of contracts throughout the business.

In addition to contract management, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our operations and business transactions adhere to relevant legal and regulatory requirements, internal guidelines, and statutory governance. Your responsibilities will include providing general legal advice and overseeing advice from external lawyers on key issues such as corporate governance, commercial matters, property, and other ad‑hoc concerns. You will also be instrumental in maintaining a straightforward yet effective governance and compliance program through documented policies, staff education, and continuous monitoring of internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare and review all contracts.
* Collaborate with the CFO on legal and commercial considerations.
* Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Provide general legal advice and oversee external counsel on corporate governance, commercial matters, property, and ad‑hoc concerns.
* Develop and maintain governance and compliance policies, staff education, and monitor internal controls.

Desired Skills and Experience

* Tertiary qualification in law.
* At least 3 years in a legal role (commercial law experience highly regarded).
* Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g., Anti‑Money Laundering, Modern Slavery, Privacy).
* Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
* Experience in risk management is desirable.
* Strong integrity and professional ethics.
* Keen business acumen.
* Acute attention to detail.

Additional Information

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to undertake pre‑employment testing including medical and drug and alcohol screening and a criminal record check.
