The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to make a real difference to road safety outcomes across South Australia. As a Senior Road Safety Engineer, you will play a key role in planning and improving safer road infrastructure, helping to reduce serious injuries and lives lost on our road network.
You will use data, research and risk-based approaches to guide road safety programs and improvement projects, develop safety plans to support road safety planning in South Australia. Working with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will contribute to evidence-based decisions and help shape future road safety initiatives.
About You
You enjoy working with complex data and research to understand road safety risks and turn insights into practical, evidence-based solutions. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and providing clear, professional advice that supports informed decision-making.
You work well with a wide range of stakeholders and communicate confidently at all levels, including on complex or sensitive issues. You bring strong professional judgement, an understanding of road safety trends and risks, and the ability to work with a high level of autonomy to help shape safer road infrastructure and programs.
Educational Qualifications /Licences
* Degree in Engineering providing eligibility for graduate membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia is essential.
* Current Drivers' Licence is required.
Special Conditions
* A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
* Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Remuneration
PO3 - $101,285 to $107,078 pa + superannuation
