About the Role
The Waste and Resource Management team operates as a significant business activity and is responsible for delivering Council’s Waste Program. The team leads the formulation of waste management strategies and plans and provides a range of services that support the achievement of council’s sustainability objectives.
In this role, you are responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of waste collection operations throughout the region including contract management and contractor performance and the provision of expert advice to the WRM leadership team, the collections team and other stakeholders regarding relevant legislation, policy and industry best practice that will promote performance and process improvement.
Key duties:
* Assist in the supervision of waste collection and recycling contractors to ensure contractual obligations are delivered and compliance with legal obligations is achieved.
* Identify opportunities to improve the provision of waste services.
* Assist with the development and implementation of strategies to promote and assist waste minimisation/landfill diversion.
* Act as a stakeholder regarding litter management and implement recommendations applicable to the Waste Collections Team.
* Administer the Public Place Waste and Recycling Bin servicing and infrastructure.
About you
You’ll be an organised individual, with ability to work independently, as well as being able to balance competing demands. Your leadership, communication, customer service and analytical skills will also be prominent and will be your keys to success is a supervisor’s role.
You have substantial relevant experience in waste management operations/ contract management/ project management or similar combined with knowledge and comprehension of contemporary and emerging waste management practices.
Additionally, a formal qualification in Waste Management Operations / Contract Management or Project Management would be considered desirable however not essential.
Competency in windows-based applications (including Microsoft suite) and a current “C” Class Drivers Licence is also required.

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
