About Us:
HJC Gutierrez Pty Ltd (trading as Kubos Bar and Grill) is a well-established Filipino restaurant on the Gold Coast, known for delivering authentic Filipino flavours with a modern twist. We are currently expanding and looking for a passionate and experienced Chef who can bring creativity and authenticity to our kitchen.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef who specializes in Filipino cuisine to lead and support our growing culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of traditional Filipino recipes, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present traditional Filipino dishes to high standards.
- Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation meet company expectations.
- Create current seasonal and event-based Filipino menu items.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, storage, and sanitation processes.
- Assist in staff training and kitchen supervision.
- Maintain food cost control and manage kitchen stock.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and OH&S; regulations.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum of 2 years full-time experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
- Proven experience preparing Filipino cuisine (both classic and regional).
- Knowledge of food handling, kitchen operations, and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
- Relevant cookery/culinary qualifications (Certificate III/IV or equivalent preferred).
About You:
- Passionate about Filipino food and hospitality.
- Reliable, organised, and able to lead by example.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
