An Assistant Manager is primarily responsible for taking a management role with regards to both clients and employees. They are expected to be an individual whose professionalism and knowledge allows both clients and employees to feel comfortable in approaching and trustingtheir judgment.
Standard Responsibilities for Job Designation
1. Identification and management of client needs through a detailed understanding of the client’s business. Raising value added services with the client. Sourcing the right person to address those needs and to begin to project management multiple needs of a client.
2. Involvement in strategic functions of firm development and contribution to development of firm policy and procedure.
3. Responsibility for career development of team members, participation in performance appraisals, identifying training needs and coaching.
4. Present training and development activities for other staff within the firm. Spend time in individual teaching and coaching.
5. Perform a management role with regards to productivity of team members, workflow coordination, debtor collection, client profitability, fee quotation, budget preparation and staff scheduling.
Specific Responsibilities for Job Designation
1. Reviews audit work performed by Senior/Intermediate/Trainee to ensure compliance with audit programs and standards, and to ensure that audit risks have been appropriately addressed.
2. Works with Manager/Associate/Partner to resolve complex technical issues that impact audit clients.
3. Review client accounts and recommend appropriate disclosures and changes required.
4. Prepare Management Letters and Reports to a high standard for Associate/Partner review.
5. Assists Associate/Partner with the preparation of tenders and proposals
6. Any other accountabilities or duties as directed by your supervisor which are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience (including qualifications and professional association memberships)
1. University graduate with 6 years professional exposure and membership (or studying for) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Program or CPA.
2. High level technical ability in accounting and taxation, including indirect taxes.
3. Ability to identify business performance issues and produce commercially relevant advice and solutions in areas of cashflow/solvency, business improvement and management reporting.
4. Understanding of Insolvency Law and Practice as it relates to the solvency of clients and options available to them.
5. Detailed knowledge of Corporations Act and ability to advise clients in relation to these matters.
6. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word.
7. Advanced computer Skills in accounting packages such as Caseware, APS and MYOB.
8. Knowledge of changes occurring in the accounting environment and the impact on Lawler Partners
